Why White people are not coming out against the racism in Ferguson. He is dead on.
I could chill with this dude.
I want to thank this man for telling some serious truth. And he didn’t do it in a way that makes him come off as disingenuous. It’s not patronizing. It’s just honest. We don’t ever get that much out of the people who consider themselves “progressive”. He definitely has the right perspective on it. Plus, I just really like that he’s fired up about it. That gives me hope.
Real talk 👍
This hits home in such a real way, that I question my own actions and privilege. Profound.
Stop calling what’s happening in Ferguson a “riot”.
It is not a riot.
Vancouver losing the Stanley Cup a few years ago was a riot. It was angry, drunken destruction with no purpose. (And as a Canadian, it was a shameful event)
Ferguson is not a riot. It is a protest. It is an uprising. It is a civil rights revolution. The prople of Ferguson may be angry, but they have a reason to be angry, and they are not violent, and they are not hooligans, thugs or looters. They are protesting for their human rights which are currently being denied.
Look at the difference between a riot and a protest. A riot is chaos. A protest has a purpose.
1- I am glorious above all things 2- Eat when hungry, sleep when sleepy, play when bored 3- Affection is given and received on my terms and only mine 4- Show displeasure clearly. 5- NO 6- Demand the things you want. If they aren’t given, demand them again, but louder this time. 7- If you are touched when you don’t want to be, say so. If they continue to touch you, make them bleed.
I have found my new calling in life, to live based on the principles of cats.
ETA: This is a scene from The House I Live In, a film on the American drug war and its effects on communities of color, education, the class disparity and the prison industrial complex. I cannot recommend this film highly enough.
"18+ ONLY Please Because Let's face it I'm usually NSFW"
I think I was a hippie in a past life because I live for 60's resistance music, classic rock, and British invasion. I'm a tree huggin'-dirt worshipin'-pagan-pansexual with an open mind and a love for all aspects of human nature. There is a lesson to be learned in everything we read, and lemons just make it a hell of a lot more fun! :)
